My friend is completely convinced that the 80's was when all good music died. I need some people to please prove him wrong! I know there's got to be some good music in the 80's!

The 80's had the best music....there was alot more creativity in the guitar work and the drumming.

The music nowdays is pretty much plain..most of is just playing chords.

The 80's had great guitar solos....by guitar gods like Eddie Van Halen and Rickie Rocket.

Where is that in todays music?

Now don't get me wrong..there are some good bands out there..but not the same as the 80's.

Music from the "80's whether its rock R&B, Motown. Country ,Pop WAS HOT!!!!! In the mid to late 90's is when I consider the day the good music died Not completely though. Because a few good tunes came out R&B ,Pop was OK .Country tried to lose its roots and change its image and started falling on its face as they kicked real country to the curb. Rap was replacing Motown( I loved The Fat Boys,Hammer ,Vanilla Ice and then Hip Hop changed to violence and degrading women and lost the Hip Hop beat to become rapp crapp. . Rock turned into headbanging noise. I could go on and on although Britney,Beyonce& a few of the female singers could still cut a good tune(just to mention a few)

Maybe I'm a little bit biased because I grew up in the 80's but I LOVE LOVE LOVE 80s music....Most 80's music is about having fun or love and how it makes you feel and of course having fun...I think good music started to die when all people could think to sing about were drugs and sex

There was good music and bad music. There were huge stars like Michael Jackson, Van Halen and Madonna. There were indie groups like U2, REM, Husker Du, Depeche Mode and the Cure that started a new wave. The really bad music was glam rock. In the late 80's you had the beginning of alternative rock with Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, Living Colour and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Actually, music was dying in the mid to late '70's due to the Dysco craze that arose after that Travolta movie Saturday Night Samauri Disco Fever In My Pants-thing. It took Punk to revitalize music (Springsteen could only do so much....)

What do you lke better? "60's? '70's? '90's? The '00's? The '80's had a lot of good groups and musicians. Who you got now?

there has to be something endearing about 80's music that there are several songs that have been redone.
Word Up (Cameo - Korn)
Land Of Confusion (Genesis - Disturbed)
Somebody's Baby (Jackson Browne - Phantom Planet) ...
and the songs about the 80's
1985 (Bowling For Soup, SR-71 (2 versions), In Love with the 80's (Reliant K)
I have a large playlist in WMP called mostly 80's
but hey I'm partial to hair bands with tight jeans and spandex :)
Give them a try, Motley Crue, Ratt, Bon Jovi, W.A.S.P., Guns-N-Roses, Billy Idol, TNT, Ozzy the list goes on....
