He'll hammer a few dingers, but not enough to light up the AL HR leaderboards...the Rangers are reaching on the Sosa pickup.

If I was a betting man, I would say that Sammy will be very average this year assuming he makes the Rangers. He is older and has been away from baseball for a year. Sammy may make it to 600 career home runs, which he is only about 13 away. Don't expect much more than that. He is not the Sammy Sosa of 98' by any stretch of the imagination.

Sammy Sosa is no longer the star he once was. This year he will hit a few out of the park but strike out 3 times as much. He is dead wait and hits into double plays to many times. He was only signed because of who he is and what he had done in the past.

"Slammin" Sammy's career is over. I know all those die-hard Sosa fans are keeping their fingers-crossed while he tries to make it on a minor league team...the problem is that even if he does make the roster, thats as far as he is going to get. Without the aid of the "juice", Sosa's stats shrunk faster then his testicles.

Did he find a drug to use that they don't test for?
If yes, then he might put on enough muscle to compensate for his bad swing mechanics and actually make it back to the bigs.
If not, then he will not make it to 600. I doubt that he will make it to the bigs at all. He is a cheater and not a very good one! I heard he was taking a class on faux painting. He was asking about how to paint woodgrains on aluminum and had brought a few bats to the class to practice on!
Anybody that doesn't think he was on the juice, take a look at a picture of him when he first came up to the big compared to a picture of him from 98. Then look at a pic of him from 2 years ago.

I have a strong feeling that he will not last long.. I'm predicting numbers right around .205/8/20, and then the Rangers get rid of him, and then he retires for good, this time because no MLB team will give him a chance again, based on his current abilities.

Hit 20+ HR's 7-80 RBI's hist around .270 and reach his goal of reaching 600 Hr's.
That's if he makes the club.

If he can provide a good veteran attitude and 20 or so homers and 50 or so RBI in a limited role, I would call it a sucess, since they didn't risk too much on him. He may draw a few fans too, so I was in favor of this low risk signing. I think he is still capable of the above numbers, which, like I stated, would be a sucessful comeback. i wish him luck in his post-roid career!
