You can wear anything you want before during or after labor, or you should be able to. Talk to your doctor about the labor part, and they should ok for you to wear a gown of your choice if you please, but you may prefer not to, but after the baby is born you can change into whatever you feel is comfortable to you.......

It's easier for the nurses to help care for you if you're in a gown, but I don't think they're going to tell you you can't wear pjs. Also, maternity ward nightgowns are made to make breastfeeding easier. I sure wouldn't have wanted to move my legs like that to put on pants right after giving birth! And they put an ice pack in my groin to help the swelling and pain, and that would've been harder to do and check on with pants. Face it, it's where the action is, and it's hard for them to constantly have to remove pants to check you out. I went pant/pantiless the whole time I was in the hospital, pretty much gave up all modesty to the nurses and docs. IT's only for a short time and then you can go home and wear your own stuff.

A hospital is really a public place where you will be seen by other patients, doctors, nurses and the general public who will visit their friends and family. Whilst you can wear a pyjama trouser, it is generally 'good dress conduct' to wear a gown when you walk around the hospital. Whilst you are in your bed or ward, you don't have to wear the gown, just your pyjamas or nightdress, PROVIDING it is not 'see-through'. Basically, it's a matter of 'decency'. By the way, incase we're confusing a 'nightdress' with 'nightgown', the NIGHTGOWN is worn OVER the pyjamas or nightdress.

I think you wear a gown for the first day. You are bleeding a lot and you might ruin any thing you bring to wear on the bottom. I am sure you are aloud to wear your own clothes once you move to postpartum but it probably isn't the best idea the first day.

After you give birth, the nurses and doctors are going to be wanting to look at you to make sure your healing properly. Depends really on if you have a C-Section or have it normally. I would bring a pair of PJ pants and wear them. No one can tell you that you cannot wear them, you are free to wear what you would like. Just be warned that they will be wanting to see your area to make sure it's healing properly.

After having a baby, you would probably be more comfortable in a gown and you can bring your own. It's whatever you want to wear.

during the birth wear a loose shirt or loose short dress or a nighty
but after wear what you will be comfortable in, i took pyjamas, and dark coloured ones so no blood will be visible if your maternity pad leaks, and to avoid stains.
but you could wear shorts or track pants any regular clothes

i think its best if you wear a gown because i dont think you want your pajama pants to get stained with lots of blood ...remember you will be losing alooooooooootttttttt of blood more than your period...so i would say til you go home wear your normal pjs...congrats!

i think they want you in a gown so it makes it easier for them to do exams on you. if it's a vaginal birth they'll probably check you out to see if you're healing ok down there but i'm sure they'd let you wear your pants if you wanted to
