The outer hull is indegestable
that is why if a kernel isn't chewed, it stays whole and undigested..The chewed ones get digested and you just don't notice the hulls that get passed

Corn is a monocot. Meaning that it is a plant with only one cotyledon. The cotyledon is used underground to protect the emerging shoot. So, I thik that the kernels are the cotyledons.

Good question. I always thought if I chewed really well, I wouldn't see it again...it didn't work. Sooo weird.
