Ok here it goes, im a freshman in college and i want to make an independent film to make it enter in the austin film festival, but i need some help, i already have the script idea so im working on that, but afterwards any ideas how can i get the equipment? any experienced filmmakers want to give me their tips? Thanks i appreciate it

make sure no ones fingers are acidentally seen in the camera...that happend before when someone was trying to take a pic and then it ended up as a pi of that person's hand instead of a pretty view.

I think your best bet is to find a book on making a short, student film or guerilla film. That can cover the whole process for you and give you good tips. If there aren't any at your library, then there are definitely some to buy on Amazon.

The easiest way to get equipment is from your college's film department, if they have one.

Also - check first on what the requirements of the Austin Film Festival are. What format film do they take? If that particular festival is your goal then you might need to shoot with a certain kind of film, which means you need a certain kind of camera.

But if there aren't any real requirements, you could look into shooting in a much cheaper way, like digital video, that you could then even edit on your own computer.

doesn't sound very independent to me.
make a sequel to "Slacker" -- it was filmed in Austin.
