I've been to 2 doctors and 1 specialist. If I cover my left ear, everything sounds as though I'm under water. My ear drum looks fine, no damage, they cannot find anything wrong. Yet I still cannot hear well out of it. A hearing aid has no effect. 1 doctor said it could be psychological but what does that mean?

Why would I eve "think" I can't hear out of it, it drives me crazy! I have to sit on the right of people just to hear what they are saying!

That last doctor is saying that you only "think" you can't hear out of that ear. It is possible that you have a birth defect~my boyfriend has the same issue, he was born without the spiral nerves in his right ear, which pick up vibrations and sound. He says that sometimes it seems like everything he hears is like an echo...sounds like the same thing. Unfortunately, he has not found anything that helps, but at least you know it's not just you, and it's not all in your head!

Psychological means that they don't believe that you can't hear, as if it is all in your head (no pun intended)......you need to find a doctor with some sense who will check everything. It could be nerve damage, could be severe sinus blockage (like me), or could be an underlying issue elsewhere in your body. Believe it or not, some forms of systemic disease can cause you to lose your hearing. Keep looking for a solution and don't give up.
