There could be many reasons why people get married but following may be the prime reasons :
Marriage is a necessary evil for man's survival. When a child is born somebody needs to help him grow in the world which is still unknown to him. Since neither man alone or a woman alone can bring up the child both are needed to live together to bring up the child.
Secondly the institution of marriage also is necessary to keep both man and woman together for a reasonably longer period of time. It is not that they meet each other , fall in love, have sex, bear a child and then separate. This will surely affect the growth of the child.
The above two are basic reasons why the institution of marriage came into being.

The primary reason to marry is to establish a stable loving home and family for the children you are procreating in marriage. The responsibility of passing genes to the next generations in your family is too important a mission to do so without the committed legal contract of marriage. For those who choose not to have children, then premarital sex, playing house, and uncommitted relationships are not harmful to anyone else other than those in the relationship. Except possibly the parents and grandparents in their disappointment at the couple ending the family genes and legacy. Oh well, but who cares about parents and grandparents anyway?

No-
it's because our society
is built on family-based
relationships.
Ever notice how anyone who
isn't married after reaching
a certain age-
is always asked when are
they going to settle down
and get married- as if it
were a bad thing?
It's societal pressure
that makes people marry.
And-
It's also the same societal
pressure that makes people
ask newlyweds when are they going
to start having children.
People are raised to believe
that being married and having
children is one of the
prerequisites for being
accepted in society.
The single people are usually
the smart ones-

People get married because it is in our nature to want lifelong companionship. Emotion has more to do with it than financial wants or needs if you are marrying for love. If two people marry for money it most assuredly ends in divorce at some point. I guess if you are happy living like a hermit you would never get married, but I haven't met anyone yet that lives by himself in a cave.

I think that just might be a question people ask their self after they get married. Its, of course suppose to be for love but that isn't always the case. I have heard the comment from some married people, "I didn't know how happy I was tell I got married."

There is the old saying that you will be healthier and live longer if you are married. You better not be married to one who stresses you out, emotionally abuses you, and considers you their servant.
Yeah she throws me an allowence once in a while.

It's a predetermined path for the mindless. No, I have been married 9 years and love my husband passionately. However, I have said many times and I do believe that if love were logical, we would not be so keen on marriage. It's insanity that leads to marriage and recovery that leads to divorce.
