the best thing to eat when you are pregnant is anything that can be tolerated by your sensitive stomach! if it's not going to stay down, don't try to force it "for the baby". I made that mistake with my first pregnancy and it made for such a miserable time....I thought that I had to have fish and every time i'd try to eat it, i'd be right in the bathroom after only a couple bites. Eat what you can keep down.

keeping that in mind, just eat a balanced diet....veggies, fruits, lean meats/poultry, etc. It's okay to give in to your cravings, but don't make them the main part of your diet....at the very least, once your pregnancy is over, you will then be forced to contend with the extra weight that has been gained.

be mindful of safe cooking and food handling practices- make sure that everything is prepared properly.

remember too that while you are eating for two, your extra caloric needs is only 300 (more if you are having twins, etc). Make sure you are taking your prenatals (they can be tough to stomach...on the days when i could not manage to swallow those horsepills, i would supplement with a can of slimfast, ensure, etc to the vitamins needed).

try not to stress too much over every single bite....just eat what you can, look for ways to make your meals healthier (ie using whole wheat instead of white flours), and take your vitamins- the rest will take care of itself! :)

Don't worry so much about eating foods with folic acid...just take a prenatal vitamin containing folic acid. Chinese food itself isn't bad. But improperly prepared food is never good during pregnancy. As long as everything is cooked properly you'll be fine. Just be sure to get some variety in your diet also. Make sure that egg rolls and almond chicken is not ALL you're eating. :)

Ceareal is a good source of folic acid, ceareal really helped me with morning sickness . Throw some veggies and fruits in with your meals. Fiber really helps to keep things moving(if ya know aht I mean). But chinese is not bad, you'll probably crave alot of "take out" foods" just remember to eat healthy stuff as well. Enjoy those cravings:)

Huge amounts of Folic Acid is found in green, leafy veggies (i.e. Spinach, Broccoli, etc.)
I suppose milk (Vit. D and Calcium) and antioxidents (Vitamins A, B, and E) are good for you as well, pregnant or not.
The closer to a vegetarian diet you are, the better... to be honest.

You need to try and eat a balanced diet, if Chinese food is all you can hold down then you need to eat, but add dairy and fruit to that, and take your prenatal vitamin.
