Two groups of insomniacs (experimental group and control group) are treated exactly the same, except one group gets warm baths and the other doesn't . The amount of sleep each group gets is measured.

By sleeping, with or without a warm bath (the temperature being an independent variable), wouldn't an insomniac lose his or her claim to insomnia?

The amount of sleep would be dependent because it depends on the bath. So the independent would be umm.... you figure it out.
