why do we have to do this?

why do we keep changing the clocks twice a year? why not stick to daylight savings hours or the other one and go on with our lives instead of waisting our time changing time (pun intented)?

Because time is something man made up a long time ago and we did not do a very good job of it . We did not take into consideration the rotation of the earth [ leap year] and the seasonal differences the sun causes on the amount of sunlight that each hemisphere gets thus the need to adjust our time pieces on a bi yearly schedule.
