Will somebody please tell me why that lady on Colbert Report the other day was saying that Barack Obama isn't black? She said that he's African-African American. Does it really matter?
I am not racist, but In my mind, having a serious candidate other than a white guy is a huge step forward for the US, and it says a lot about our society trying to ignore stereotyping and evaluating the person rather than the color of their skin. Is it just me or were her statements counter-productive?

I understand your point.
I happen to like him a lot!!
I think he would be wonderful for our country...but I do fear for his safety if he does become President.
Qualifications see no colour, or at least that's how it should be.

You are correct. What does it matter what color a candidate is if their platform is best? I mean we are so caught up with race that a lot times we look over the best person for the job because of it. I concur, it is a step forward for the U S having a candidate that is Black. But the real steps will produce on election day. May God Bless U.

I was stunned when I heard Ms. Dickerson tell Stephen that since Obama wasn't a decendant from slaves he wasn't really black. Does that mean that whites who never owned slaves are not really white? The logic would seem to follow. That's what seemed crazy to me. I would think any race (and country) would be thrilled to have a truly great candidate like Obama Barack.

You say having a serious candidate other than a white guy is a huge step forward and then you condemn stereotyping.

Barack Obama's skin color is only an issue to those bigoted racists who would just as likely discriminate against someone else's religion. Those people are against everything this country is supposed to stand for. In short, they are Un-American.

He's not black or African American. He's mulatto.
As for the Colbert Report, it was a joke about political correctness. Since you are a politically correct bimbo, you didn't get it.

what confuses me is why it matters. His mother was upper class white serving as a military nurse. His father was a Nigerian(?) serving in America. So what. How much more American can you be except a Zebra.
Somebody give a stinkin link in. Colbert is so damn funny!

It isnt the first time a colored man has run for office...Obama is just the most popular because in this race there is a black man and a woman running.

Yes why does race matter? I don't remember anyone saying 'Well he's Irish, he's French', etc. He'll be a good candidate and I think he'll do his job well.
