My boyfriend and I are about to move into our apartment in two weeks. We are short on money to buy furniture. The only thing I can think of to get some money is to have a garage sale, but I know I won't get more than $50 from that, and I still need more than that. We can't wait to move in later because our daughter is due soon. Please, serious answers only!

You are going to have to save and do with out until you have the money. Before people had credit cards this is how it was done. You are young, I know you want your first home to be perfect. It will be, because you will all be together.

Good luck!!

I've gotten used furniture from friends, family, and in front of strangers houses. My early furniture was bean bag sofas and lawn chairs. Ever try to put something heavy down on a wicker coffee table? Don't sweat it. Buy the time the baby is all grown up and moving out, you'll be giving her that old sofa from 3 years ago.

Try Goodwill or St. Vincent De Paul's or Salvation Army for furniture. Check with family, maybe they've saved something. Sell your stuff on ebay instead of garage sales. You'll probably make more on ebay.

Go to a furniture rental store. I did that for my first apartment.

I don't know your financial situation, but maybe you could consider taking out a loan.
