And she can not blend or sound out words, spell and writes numbers letters and words backwards. She can get the beginning sound of a word and the ending but nothing in between. Can not get the school to do any further testing and she was denied eip because she was average on all the assesment testing

My daughter is in a DOD school in Okinawa I took her to the child pysch. and they did a non verbal IQ test and said that she was fine and shows no problem with learning seems to be above average than most kids. But the school is giving me a run for money, they see the problem but she does not meet there guideline for eip

Under law, the Rehabilitation act of 1973, and ADA, of 1990, children with evidence of handicap must be accomodated. Go to your child's school board and demand that their special services division do more testing. Or have a counselor, psycologist or psychiatrist of your chosing test and confirm learning difficuties in your child.

It sounds to me like you need to take this issue to your school board -you have tried the school ..now it is time to take it a step farther....and if you hit another wall there ..keep on going to the state board......

...writing letters and words backwards is a sign of Dyslexia......

it could be dislexia but since you say 'further testing' has she been tested for dislexia?
