Don't ever spend your money on commercial defog, it's such a waste of money! Any experienced diver will tell you these two things:

1) You can spit in your mask. Swish it all around with your finger, and then rinse (or let is sit for a min or two, and then rinse). A small percentage of the population actually are missing the enzyme in their spit to prevent fogging, so this won't work for everyone though.

2) Your other option is to use a little dish soap. put a drop or 2 in your mask, and rub it all over. You can rinse immediately, or let it dry and rinse later (but don't rinse it in the ocean, pollution!). This method will keep your mask from fogging for ages, and is great. You can also do this to your mirrors in the bathroom to keep them from fogging while you're in the shower.

FYI, if you're scuba diving and your mask fogs while you're under water, let a little water into your mask to rinse away the fog. Then exhale out your nose while looking up at the surface to clear your mask of the water.

Hope this helps!

Whenever i go on diving trip, i always bring little bottle of baby shampoo to clean my mask before go down in the water. Baby shampoo is strong enough to clean the mask and prevent fogging but it is also gentle so it wont irritate your eyes.

once you attempted the toothpaste (no longer gel) did you merely smear it around or did you utilize a splash elbow grease? maximum pupils that proceed to have fogging subject concerns, I ask that comparable question. that's extremely humorous that once I sparkling their masks with toothpaste it does not fog up from now on. Be beneficiant, placed a reliable volume of toothpaste in there and incredibly paintings it "into" the masks. don't be afraid to truly push.

Use anti-fog spray/gel, just make sure you don't wet it so much that it completely washes out. As a last resort you can use your saliva.
