my son and daughter-in-law plan to name a son Hays or a daughter Haley. I have mixed feelings about Hays as a first name. Tell me what you think. Of course it's not my choice, but theirs.

Haley is nice but Hays?? Hayden is a much nicer name for a boy. A child named Hays would probably get teased at school etc.

Hays? Don't like it. It sounds bad for a name, maybe a name for a pet but not a name for a person. Just imagine this child can get teased in school because of the name, its sad really. I like Haley but Hays, i don't think so!

Haley is great, but if their planning on having more kids, they might like to chose names that sound less similar. I think having Haley and Hays would be confusing. But I prefer Hayden to Hays.

Hays? Don't like it at all. What about Hayden? Haley is lovely, but I prefer Hayley this spelling.

I don't like the name Hays. I can tell you that he will be teased endlessly for it by peers through his growing up years. Also as that is not the common spelling, he will have to spell it for teachers and the like constantly. By the time he reaches his teens, if not before, he will be seriously looking into getting it legally changed asap.

Well Hays is a unique name but your grandchild will be unique. Have you ever asked them why they like that name???? Maybe there is something in that name that means something special to their family. I think that now a days you can name your child whatever you want to. I wanted to nake my son Colby or Kalyb but my husband said no to the cheese and my friends thought Kalyb was to girlly so we went with Kaleb. I loved all kinds of unique names but my husband said no. Maybe they could spell Hays a little differently....
