I work in a casino and see people blow thousands of dollars a day. I see people gamble and lose their mortgage money, rent money, and the money they have set aside for bills. I also see people who take what they can afford to lose and have a great time.
As long as you are not blowing large amounts of money on the lottery, I don't see the harm in it. Do not blow what you don't have. It is gambling, but if you are just spending a little cash that is not going to be missed, I don't see the harm.

Well. I have never bought a lottery ticket.
If you can go six months without buying a ticket you don't have a problem. But, if you feel that you HAVE to be buying tickets, then you have a problem.
Usually with addictons the rule of thumb is that what you are doing causes a problem in your relationships then YOU have a problem.
I have a feeling YOU have a problem.
Maybe you guys can set aside $5 a week for you to buy tickets.
In a marriage you need to have agreement in how you use your money.

There is no doubt that buying lottery tickets is gambling but it can also be enjoyable and fun. Like drinking is fun if you are in control and you don't start to spend the weekly food budget on tickets. As long as the tickets are bought with spare cash then I don't see the problem. Your husband has problems if he begrudges you some money with which to enjoy yourself. I wonder what he spends his money on for the purpose of enjoying himself.

I used to play Powerball. Never matched anything. Just stopped playing because it is like burning money. Now I doubt if I'll ever play because 220 million was just won by some old dude about 10 miles from where I live. It will never be won again around here just by the sheer odds.
I work too hard for my money to p*ss it away anymore.

Does he have a 401K retirement plan or has he purchased any stock? Then he is a gambler too.
