I don't subscribe to AOL nor do I want/need to. I've read here and there that AOL is pretty bad and people hate it. Why? What are the reasons for hating it.

their software is buggy, it weaves itself into your computer and is difficult to remove completely.

their service is bloated and slow.

they cost too much

most of the criticism comes from their dial-up days when they were really bad. you were knocked offline every few minutes and you constantly had to "download new art" everytime you logged in before you could even get onto the internet. Sometimes that took up to an hour.

I dont like them because they spoon feed everything to you. It's fine for people who don't want to learn how to use the internet, but for the rest of us, there's always something better.
