Is being stupid a choice or a defect? Hmmm, these are the questions that make me miss the thumbs down feature.

What the hell kind of question is that?
Is being straight a choice or defect?
People don't just wake up one morning and say "Hm, I think I'll be gay today"

It's neither choice nor defect. Gay people just are. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't call it either (but that's just because I'm gay, so I don't think I have a defect). Don't worry, I'm not going to go on about how I must be okay....
There is a lot of proof that your sexuality is defined when you are a fetus. The way testosterone is or isn't distributed at certain times defines certain aspects of your personality that are just there and can't really be changed. Typically, the hormone is released at the right time to cause boys to be well, boy-ish, and girls to be feminine. Everyone's genes are different, though, so everyone's basic personality and masculinity/femininity is different.
Research has found evidence that sexuality is defined by when hormones are distributed as a fetus. It's also found where sexuality is stored in the brain. The evidence is so concrete, that most people have started to believe that it is genetic, even those who are still against gays for one reason or another.
There have also been studies where certain parts of the physical body is different depending on sexuality, which gives more evidence that it's genetic, along with studies involving gay twins. In the majority of twins, one gay brother/sister has another gay brother/sister (this is in identical twins, by the way).
So, with all of the evidence, especially concrete evidence, it would be hard to argue that being gay isn't genetic.

Yes, there are people who chose to be gay, but they aren't really accepted in the gay community, since they usually have no idea what they're talking about and fit into the stereotype that gays are just gay to get with the opposite sex. These people are trying to just get with the opposite sex and shouldn't even be considered gay at all, as they are not.

It's not a choice or a defect. It's a genetic abnormality. This does not mean something wrong or disgusting, just abnormal, or "different." Being gay is in the same catagory as left-handedness, blonde hair, and high cheekbones. It's different from the norm, but is not a defect since it doesn't really cause problems for a person. If at all, a defective society causes problems for gays.

It is neither... it is not a choice and it is not a defect.. with thinking like that one can consider someone who is hetero being defective... being hetero is no more wrong or right then being gay. Heck why shouldnt we think that the majority of the world isnt defective being hetero? Why cant being gay be the norm? and being hetero is defective,,, that road you are going down is a 2-way street.

Neither one of your options is particularly indicative of what being gay is. It's something involuntary that happens at birth. It's not a defect, it's not a choice. The end.

It is not a choice. Being gay is caused by conditioning (others may call it nurture). Phobia too is not caused by choice (or genes) but by conditioning.

It is a defect. Homosexuals are not normal and homosexuality is not good or healthy or beneficial.

I can admit this. And I am gay.

Neither.
It's simply DIFFERENT.

Just like being left handed is simply DIFFERENT than being right handed.
Being blue eyed is simply different than being green or brown eyed. Being Blond is simply different than being brunette or a red head.
