Have you heard about that "little movie" 23? He's the star.

Everyone grows up - look at Tom Hanks - formerly a wacky actor, now a highly regarded actor and filmmaker. Personally, I'm glad to see Jim Carey branching out - there's only so much "alllllll righty then" I can stomach.

He grew up and realized that he had to do something besides Comedies. If he didn't branch out and try to expand he would be considered for comedies only. Short lifespan. He has guaranteed himself a bigger lifespan by being open to do other things (drama, comedy, action). Working in movies sure is better than working the comedy clubs. $$ played a big reason why he switched.

He finally got tired of being just the funny guy! His next movie, THe Number 23 is going to be GREAT! I wish other comedy actors would do other movies sometimes that way people like me (movie lovers) wouldn't get tired of seeing them be the goofy guy acting like an idiot all the time. It gets OLD, FAST!!

Nothing, he's just branch out like any other actor should. Think about it, Johnny Depp use to play a lot of serious roles but his role as Jack Sparrow could not be taken too seriously.

He's on Conan as I type this. Is wearing all black and has hair almost touching his shoulders. Huge coincidence but I am totally serious. Commercial on right now so I'll send in this answer before I see what he's got going right now but my guess is he's there to promote a new movie.

I couldn't find a source in quick look on web, but there is a saying along the lines of "Every clown wants to play shakespeare".

It sort of looks like people don't understand what you're asking...
just thought i'd point that out and feel smart for a second.
There, done.
Anyway... he still has some funny left in him; Fun with Dick and Jane, though it had a lot of political overtones, was funny. I guess he's just trying to take his career in a new direction. Robin Williams has bombshelled his own career with that nonsense.

Jim Carey was funny? when? I mean besides Liar Liar what movie did he make in his comedic days that was entertaining.

I have to agree with the other people who have responded: when was Jim Carrey funny?

He's still around. Not as in demand as he once was, but, he has a new movie coming out soon. It's called "Number 23" or something like that.
