(I used this answer somewhere else, but it fits in this one as well, so I didn't want to type it up again. This is just in case you notice that I answered another question with the same answer a few minutes ago.) Don't worry, I don't usually copy and paste, I just didn't want to type the same thing ALL OVER AGAIN....
There is a lot of proof that your sexuality is defined when you are a fetus. The way testosterone is or isn't distributed at certain times defines certain aspects of your personality that are just there and can't really be changed. Typically, the hormone is released at the right time to cause boys to be well, boy-ish, and girls to be feminine. Everyone's genes are different, though, so everyone's basic personality and masculinity/femininity is different.
Research has found evidence that sexuality is defined by when hormones are distributed as a fetus. It's also found where sexuality is stored in the brain. The evidence is so concrete, that most people have started to believe that it is genetic, even those who are still against gays for one reason or another.
There have also been studies where certain parts of the physical body is different depending on sexuality, which gives more evidence that it's genetic, along with studies involving gay twins. In the majority of twins, one gay brother/sister has another gay brother/sister (this is in identical twins, by the way).
So, with all of the evidence, especially concrete evidence, it would be hard to argue that being gay isn't genetic.
Yes, there are people who chose to be gay, but they aren't really accepted in the gay community, since they usually have no idea what they're talking about and fit into the stereotype that gays are just gay to get with the opposite sex. These people are trying to just get with the opposite sex and shouldn't even be considered gay at all, as they are not.

Being gay is a genetic. No one knows for sure how or why this happens, but it's in the same catagory as being left-handed or having high cheekbones. It's different, but not bad.
A defect causes a person harm. That's why it's an "imperfection." But like left-handedness, being gay does not harm a person. It's a defective society that does.
Being gay is also not what only turns someone on. Many straight people have gay fantasies, and vice versa. But being gay is deeper than just sexual attraction: it is an emotional as well as physical attraction to the same sex.
