Akeelah is who the movie is about and the Bee is the what the movie is about. Akeelah is an African American girl who wins the National Spelling Bee. The story shares her experience.
Eleven year-old Akeelah Anderson's life is not easy: her father is dead, her mom ignores her, her brother runs with the local gangbangers. She's smart, but her environment threatens to strangle her aspirations. Responding to a threat by her school's principal, Akeelah participates in a spelling bee to avoid detention for her many absences. Much to her surprise and embarrassment, she wins. Her principal asks her to seek coaching from an English professor named Dr. Larabee for the more prestigious regional bee. As the possibility of making it all the way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee looms, Akeelah could provide her community with someone to rally around and be proud of -- but only if she can overcome her insecurities and her distracting home life. She also must get past Dr. Larabee's demons, and a field of more experienced and privileged fellow spellers

The movie is great, it is a bit slow at times but still worth watching.. Akeelah is the main character and is a great speller and is entered into the spelling Bee championships, her teacher is withdrawn because of something that happened with his own daughter... and Akeelah is not alone she gains the help of her whole community. I am not sure how to answer your other questions

akeelah is the girls name bee is the spelling bee the movie is about her in the spelling bee. A child with a hard life is smart and with help from a teacher she goes on the the national spelling bee. the girl has little support from friends and family her mom.

properly i think of the topic became is that her mom would not enable her to be interior the spelling bee so she had to deceive her mom so as that she ought to coach and her mom found out and it became hardship! desire that helped!!! :D P.S. i like that action picture
