Expensive is not always better, just more prestigious.
There is a big difference between an Associate of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science--an associates' degree is conferred after only two years of study, while a bachelors' degree takes four years.

Depends on your field of study... There are some places where you will get a superior education for less money and vice-versa. An Assoc. of Arts degree is a result of a very different curricula from a Bach of Science degree. All degrees also are often specialized for your field of study (ie. business, nursing, etc...) Getting the basic classes out of the way at a cheaper college helps.

A degree in anything indicates to employers that you have the ability and willingness to learn. Degree programs often incorporate a variety of classes that are seemingly not degree related, but give the student a larger understanding.

Mine is a Bach. of Arts in Computer and Video Imaging. While I never applied the actual skills from my degree, the simple fact that I had it wound up helping me onto a different career path. The cost was expensive and the small college I went to closed for financial reasons a few years after I graduated. Make sure whatever college you choose has it's degree programs accredited, especially smaller colleges. That's why even though my college is gone, my degree is still valid.

Unfortunately the cost of education in general dictates that when you attain your degree you put it to work immediately to start the long arduous process of repaying all those school loans. I still have at least 10-15 years to go...

Whatever you decide is better is up to you. Do lots of research on the college and field of study and be sure it's what you really, really, REALLY want to do.
