My compaq x1000 says my battery is going down. I am plugged in, but instead of the light being green, the light is off. The weird thing is my little icon is telling me that it is plugged in. It knows it is plugged in and the computer should be getting power, and yet my computer will soon turn off. Is there a way to make it start taking in power again?

I just solved it myself. I simply restarted my computer and detached the battery, then put it back in and turned it back on. Magic. I guess my computer will keep on chugging. Now you know the proper way to fix my problem. First person to edit their answer and suggest the steps I just took to fix the problem will get the best answer. As in...act like you were the one who suggested it. You can change your answer you know...

Could be caused by loose solder joints in the laptop's power receptacle or even a broken receptacle. If you're still under warranty, I would contact the manufacturer or find a nearby computer shop to actually make sure, because if that's what it is you'll have to go into it to fix it. Trust me laptops aren't fun to take apart, and you're better off having a professional do it so you don't risk messing things up since to get to certain parts you have to take them COMPLETELY apart.

If there's a green light on your addapter to the wall check if thats on, if it is then it could be the connecter from the addaptor to your computer.... or your computer just hates you.
