I would think that both sides would be able to agree that we're all Amercans, but alas some, from both sides, think that isn't true.
Whatever happened to the unity that this country had on 9/12/01?

... we can agree that Hitler is a bad person... and then go on to call the other side Hitler? (as I've seen both Republicans and Democrats do on multiple occasions)

I think the unity left when we didn't go after Osama and then went into Iraq... I think many dems were like... "ok, but this better make some sense"... and it didn't...

Sorry to be the one to break the news to ya partner but on 9/12 politicians on both sides were trying to figure out how to make political hay out of the events of 9/11. Those that stood there and cried for the President to do something are the very people that began undermining his policies at the very first opportunity. Some just acted sooner rather than later. You can put the blame on those in power if ya want but lets not forget who put them there, those that didn't even care enough to vote. The Americans who truly love this country are those on the Left and Right standing there shaking their fingers at each other trying to convince the other that only they know the truth. You can bet if they can get that worked up then most likely they'll not only vote but wear the uniform as well. Not all of course but most I'll bet. But the short answer is no, other wise everyone would be either a conservative or a liberal.

Long gone as memories fade. We are known for our short attention spans.
Not everyone here is American, Y!A is international. The fact that a person is American by citizenship doesn't guarantee that he or she wants what is best for this country. I can respect those who have different opinions on what would be best for our country, but there are some, it seems like many on this board, who sincerely want us to lose. I can't & won't respect those people.

Conservatives and liberals agree on a lot of things. But there is a difference between the extreme right-wing and genuine conservatives. This small minority of "neocons" are not genuine conservatives--nor are they Americans, except in name.

I think that both can agree that Bush was unqualified for the job of president. The difference is that the conservatives voted for him anyway.

They agree on this:
The other side is out to get them

And this:
The country would be better off if their party were totally in charge of all three branches of the government.

The corrupt oligarchy of political and corporate elites and their tool, the media, make sure that we only see our differences. They want to keep us fighting amongst ourselves so we won't notice how they keep making withdrawals from the bank (aka stealing and/or wasting our tax dollars).

Liberals and Conservatives can agree that if there has to be a nuclear mushroom cloud over a city, we would rather the smoldering radioactive hole in the ground be where Tehran used to be than where Washington is.
