I think washing it will remove the stain resistant chemical.... you would want to scotchguard it again

I would think it would have to be retreated for that. Check and see if there is a label, that will tell you. Or call the manufacture of the cover.

ONCE YOU WASH STRAIN RESISTANT ITEMS THEY WILL NOT BE AS STAIN RESISTANT AS IT WAS YOU WILL HAVE TO RE DO IT

you will have to spay scotchguard after you wash it
