I have a desktop and a laptop. I want to install a wireless router so I can use the laptop for internet usage.

How long should it take me to install the router? I want to be able to completely install it without being interrupted.

My husband just bought a laptop and we were having conflicts for using the internet, so the other day he went to wal-mart and for under 40.00 he purchased a Belkin wireless G-router and it took less than 10 minutes to install and was so easy. The software that comes with it has a wizard to use to make the installation so easy and fast as well and the hookup isnt confusing at all. Hope this can work out for you!

It took me about 3 hours. I was setting up a new desktop computer in a spare room down the hall from my bedroom (where the Internet cable connection was). I tried to follow the directions that came with the wireless router; no good. After a call to my cable provider (Comcast), I learned that the computer, cable modem, and wireless router had to first be connected together, so I lugged the computer (and monitor, and keyboard)) back down the hall, set everything up in the bedroom, and installed the CD that came with the router; then I lugged the computer (and monitor, and keyboard) back to the spare room. Still no good. Another call to Comcast. They couldn't figure out the problem, and advised me to call the LinkSys people who made the router, which I did, and was connected with a wonderfully patient & knowledgeable man who talked me through a lot of incomprehensible stuff ("from the c prompt, type the following...."). After about an hour of this, we got the damn thing working. Yay! I'm guessing that this would be simpler for you with a laptop, but as you can see, I'm a total ignoramous about computers. Anyway, good luck!

It depends on your technical knowledge. But surely it will not not 30 minutes to install it.
