Is it considerd a type of insanity? Or is it mearly a word? If so, why is there so many meanings of the word? Ex: I love sex, I love peaches, I love my family, I love my girlfriend, I love shopping. Does the usage of "Love" in these words, share a commond ground or are they the complete opposite?

Love is probably the most complicated concept in the world. The examples you gave demonstrate the fact that love can mean "I feel good when...". I think that's a lot of what the WORD "love" means. The problem is that it can be spiritual, emotional, cognitive, physical, etc. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer, haha.

Love, in one sense, is a word used to describe a deep attachment/liking for something.
But love in its entirety is more than just a mere liking or emotion or fuzziness you feel inside. That's attraction.
Love is what you do when you respond to that attraction. That's how some people develop a love for certain things. They respond to the buzz they get when they do these things.
In short, real love is a choice, a decision. Not the buzz.
Of course, if you want an ideal of love, check out 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible. I think that's what everyone hopes for.

Read "The 4 Loves" by C. S. Lewis. It is not an easy read.
Love is an attachment and a preference and can be altruistic or selfish. There are different nuances.
We should have as many words for all the kinds of love as the Eskimos have for all the kinds of snow. There would be less confusion and it might enhance our survivability.

There are degrees of love and preferences.
E.g. you love coffee and you love ice cream and you love pizza. Out of all these options, you have a preference how much you love one to another, hence you rank your preferences, once you've done ranking these "needs" you move up to the next level (by the way I'm working with Maslow's heirachy of needs.
After you physiological needs are met, you go into the social level and then to the personal level where you love your girlfriend. Check this quote out, "I Love being Hated (by people)". In that situation love is the satisfaction one gets from doing something, but in another case "unconditional love" you give and give but don't expect anything in return. I haven't really answered your question, but am just putting ideas out there

Love means something different to everyone.
I like the definition given in the movie 'Auntie Mame':
"Love is what poets write about; Sex is what we do."
Seriously, there are concepts that are nearly universal, and most people would agree to the following definition of love:
Love is when someone else's happiness and wellbeing is more important to you than your own. If you would lay your life down for another, then this is love in its highest expression. You love a person if you cannot think of what life would be without them.

I think love means a calm easiness with. If you love peaches then you feel calm when you eat them. If you love your family or a person then you feel at ease with them. If you love shopping then you feel calm when you are doing it. It eases your mind. As far as it being an insanity? I don't think so. I think insanity is to lose control. Love is when you are in control of your calm self. You are at ease with yourself and/or something else. That's what it means to me anyway.
