Convicts are free swimming about 3 to 5 days after they hatch. The parents will start moving them around the tank at that time where you can see them grazing on algae. Of course like any good convicts the parents will most likely have killed every other fish in the tank to make it safe for their kids. They are psycho that way.

I would say about 5 days to a week and they should be fine. Convict babies are also among the strongest fry and will survive well. However there will be some mortality and you sholdnt worry too much about that. Once theyre free swimming I suggest that you separate them and feed them on frozen boild egg yolk.
