Or will it fracture into smaller countries? Give real arguments.

I should elaborate, actually parlay it into another question. I think what I'm looking for are reasons why it would split up. And are we starting to see it happen already?

Given the path we're on, no, I don't. We're too top heavy, too violent, the family unit hardly exists and we're headed toward anarchy and economic collapse. Nope, don't think so.

I do not think that the USA can survive in its current form more then 100-150 years.
It is currently experiencing social issues between east and west and the ever present north west divide.

whether it will fracture and disintergrate into smaller independant nations is unclear. I think though parts of the nation will diverge and seek to seceed again from the Union. I honestly think that the nation will need to either relax federal power and become more like the EU - little states with a loose confederation - OR it will need to abolish the states create a more regionalised structure and increase the powers of the federal administration. IT is simply not going to be the 1000 year beacon of truth and liberty.

That is the question to answer for all of us. Right now we are on the verge of being detested by everyone else in the world, and that is not good for our economy. There is something sinister about a nation as great as ours sending billions of dollars to feed people in other lands that detest us, while tolerating starving children and homeless seniors in our own cities. There are those who want to make health care be a government service, and that would be very bad for us. Go to Canada, or the UK and look at what the government health care is really like, and if you want that, move there. Both in terms of quality health care and cost of health care, we'd suffer terribly if we copied Canada or the UK. The taxes we would have to pay to support this would be intolerable.
We may cause so many to detest us that the rest of the world isolates us, we may become so defensive that we isolate ourselves. Either would kill our economy. We may bankrupt ourselves as a nation. There are many ways we may not last another 200 years.
On the other hand, look at our past. We fought the Revolutionary war, and emerged victorious and battered but determined. We dusted ourselves off, and grew better and stronger. We did this again after the Civil War, and several others. We survived two world wars, senator Joe McCarthy, Vietnam, Nixon and more.We are a bit like a dog in a flood. Just when it seems we are going over the waterfall to our end, we struggle ashore, shake ourselves dry, turn around three times, growl, and pull ourselves together. As a nation we have faced adversity often and have emerged victorious and strengthened every time. My prediction is that troubled though we now seem to be, divided though we are in many ways, we will again struggle ashore, shake ourselves dry, turn around three times, growl, and pull ourselves together. I think we will do this as often as we need to, and so yes I believe we will still have America to love and be proud of in 200 years.

The USA will split either by mutual agreement or another civil war. The continued use of external conflicts to divert focus away from internal problems will lead to civil unrest.
They will lose their position as a world super power within the next 50 years.

I HOPE TO SHED A LITTLE LIGHT ON YOUR QUESTION. MY FATHER TOLD ME THAT ONE DAY WE WOULD NOT NEED MONEY . THAT WE WOULD WORK AND WOULD BE PAID BY CREDITS INTO AN ACCOUNT. WELL I DON'T GET A PAY CHECK ANY MORE... I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF CHANGES IN THE PAST 55 YEARS BUT I THINK THAT EVEN AS WE CHANGE AS A NATION WE WILL STAY TOGETHER AS A NATION . BUT REALLY ISN'T THAT FOR GENERATIONS OF LATER YEARS. THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF DIRECTION IN ANYTHING IS TO BECOME INVOLVED AND QUIT THINKING THAT O' WELL SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT SO I WON'T . I READ SOME OF THE ANSWERS LEFT BY YOUNG PEOPLE. AND THERE ANSWERS WORRY ME . BECAUSE THE KIND OF THINKING IS "WHY SHOULD I CARE" . THEY WILL IF THERE CHILDREN HAVE TO LIVE IN WHAT THEY HAVE CREATED.. BUT AS FOR A FRACTURE OF THIS COUNTRY NO. AMERICANS AND AMERICA AS A WHOLE WILL STAY INTACT THATS WHERE WE GET OUR STRENGHT.

I doubt it.
I don't think the will is there to treat the USA as an entity .
Just look at the condition of New Orleans. Most other countries would have put all their resources into getting the city rebuilt as a matter of priority.

IF we get someone like President KookooBananas in office, I won't give us Ten years. Eventualy, the state's differences will overcome any laws, and they'll seceed like they did in the 1800's. If we get someone that knows what they're doing, then maybe... JUST MAYBE... We'll last another 200 years. We'll just have to wait and see then won't we?

Well do you mean politicaly, or actually split?? about splitting no. But in 200 years we proably will politically have borders, just guessing. Many people like our pres. while some dont, and that might enforce them. Also war might, and money and taxes.
