I personally think that Kwame stinks. Caron is now and all star and would have definitley been better than keeping kwame. What do you think?

when they made that trade, i thought "what the hell are they doing?" kwame is a bum and has been since he came into the league. caron is a solid player who goes out and plays every night. i never though that they should do this and knew that it would come back to haunt them. he was good for the system and should still be there. i don't even know if the bum they traded him for even deserves to be in the major league because after all of this time, he hasn't developed much. they need to trade him or cut him. he plays no defense and no one fears his inside presence. they very seldom have to alter their shots when going at him since his shot blocking is non-existent. caron has handles and a consistent shot giving him the ability to score in many different ways. he's not a punk on defense either usually guarding bigger players and still holding his own. no wonder jerry west retired!

it is hard to say that the lakers will be more successful with caron. he and odom have a very similar style of play and together with kobe, they will form a weird trio on the floor. 3 athletic scorers who will dominate the 2-3 spot and one becomes an undersized player on the 4 position. toss in luke walton and you have too much of the same thing. cook is a guard trapped in a big but soft man's body. bynum is 2-3 years away from being a dominant center.

in the end, the lakers needed to ship caron 4 a big man. but kwame just sucked.

you will no longer be able to redo history. Lakers had a glut of small forwards, and traded one, playing that the substitute of environment might earnings Brown. the blunders wasn't in paying for and advertising Caron, yet incredibly no longer getting extra effectual fee in a extra finished participant than Kwame. Had this occurred, it fairly isn't any longer in all hazard than l. a. could have been waiting to obtain somebody with Gasol's versatility; pondering Memphis replaced into searching for an expiring contract.

i dont think caron would flourish with the lakers had he stayed; too many perimeter oriented players play for LA. the lakers need a big body in the worst way, and though kwame has failed to live up to the number 1 pick billing ( i think thats your fault mr. jordan), he certainly can help shore up the lakers front court when healthy. i think both teams benefitted from the trade in the LONG RUN.

Kwame helps more

he's the lakers best post defender

butler can't guard the duncans and garnetts

butler also didn't fit well with odom and Kobe

butler is the better player but Kwame is the better fit

Kwame sucks he's the biggest hype in the NBA since Sam Bowie. Lakers made a huge mistake trading Butler

Caron Butler would never thrive in a team with another (better) SF/SG player - simply not enough ball to go around.
Kwame Brown hasn't been a bust at the Lakers - actually given how low expectations were, he's probably exceeded most projections. He just isn't where ol' MJ thought he'd be when he drafted Brown at #1.

I'd guess you could say that, but some players need new scenery and motivations, along with different types of offensive and defensive schemes to play well. Nobody knew in two years that Caron Butler was going to be an all-star caliber player. They all saw him as an average player. If Steve Nash was still in Dallas he wouldn't have two MVPs and a chance for a third. He plays well in the Suns high-flying offense.

Kwame was never good. Plus they have Andrew Bynum, a rising star I would say. Caron Butler would fill their SF needs, giving them an all-star level producer.
