why did indo-china and indo-pak wars take place?

Indo-China war:
Imperialism of China led to the Communist China's claim on entire Himalayan region including Tibet, Bhutan. Sikkim, Nepal and Indian regions. It attacked and occupied Tibet. As a consequence, Sikkim dicided to merged with India, Bhutan and Nepal signed special friendship treaties with India which annoyed India. When India offered asylum to the Dalai Lama, it further annoyed China. To teach a lesson to India and to prove the military power of the Communist Red Army, China attacked some border posts on undefended Indo-Tibetan border without any provocation and without any notice.

Indo-Pak war 1948:
Kashmir prefered to remain independent according to the instrument of partition of India in 1947. The people of Kashmir were resisting the king's rule and wanted to merge with India. Jinnah as usual miscalculated the situation and decided to attack Kashmir to force a merger. In 1948, Pakistan attacked Kashmir. As a result Kashmir signed instrument of accession and merged with India. That led to first Indo-Pak war.

Indo-Pak war 1972:
Bengalis of then East Pakistan (East Bengal) were discriminated as a routine in Pakistan. It went to extreme when legally elected Prime Minister Sheikh Mujib was not allowed to take charge of Pakistan because he was a Bengali. West Pakistan started genocide in Bengal which lead to tragic end of three million Bengali muslims and inflow of millions into India. At the request of the supressed neighbors, Indira Gandhi sent army to help Bang Bahini which resulted in a free BanglaDesh.

In 1962 the Chinese entered India after crossing the McMohan line and occupied territory in Ladakh.This was the main cause.

Indo pak Wars

First war was in 1959 when pakistan infiltrated into Kashmir.In 1966 there was a ceasefire. The Tashkent Agreement ended this.

Another war broke out in 1971 over the issue of east Pakistan when it demanded democracy.India supported this and Bangladesh was thus formed.

In 1999 there was another conflict with Pakistan in the kargil sector of Kashmir.

War is resultant of a hate towards the other. Hate is generally strengthened by focussing on how the other is different from you, which is where their culture, religious belief systems, their lifestyle, their worldview all come as focus. Getting into a concrete answer may be totally misleading. For instance, a war veteran may say that war gives him the opportunity to test his machines, his utility vis-a-vis in deploying all resources under his command to achieve a common goal, the strength of his motivation etc - which need not be accurate for analysis.
