We can attribute the near extinction of this species to the hectic pace of our lives. There literally is no time left for a smile or a handshake. There is a misconception that you would lose out on life unless you are a part of this mad race for survival.Everything in life has a price tag attached to it and traits like honor and hospitality are perceived to be of no value and hence very few people seek these.I just hope there is a reversal in this attitude.

Things were going pretty well until the Pledge of Allegiance and moment of silence(or prayer), were taken out of the school along with parents rights to discipline their children.

Greed slipped in there somewhere also. Many music videos now all show money, expensive homes, cars and clothes. Not everyone can achieve that. Some that do, get there by greed, dishonesty and unethically.

Families use to be able to spend time around the dinner table until both parents had to work more than one job to support the family and then were still living paycheck to paycheck because they were being taxed to death.

Children use to be taught manners, hospitality and keeping their word. Seeing some of the current role models out there, people don't see them for who they really are. Some politicians or business execs lie, cheat, take bribes; athletes, singers, actors, law enforcement personnel and reguar everyday people.

So no wonder that kids don't keep their word or honor.

There ARE a few honest men, a few true gentlemen, a few hospitable people. Just rare and hard to find.

When others stopped accepting the word or handshake of a man as bond. We are still out here. We just do not get any press.

I don't know, but I've been trying to find a "true gentleman" for quite some time with no luck. I think the became extinct. I think Ladybug is right...it left when women's lib moved in.
