I am not sure what the band teacher is doing, but it is never a good idea to be rude to a teacher. You seldom win in that. I am what you would say is old, 51 and I was in choir in high school. Our choir director was very emotional and high strung. He would get upset with us and was known to have thrown a music stand and we ducked as it sailed over the alto section. On another occasion he hit the piano so hard he broke his watch. We were smart enough not to laugh or smart off in front of him because we knew it would only make matters worse. If you are concerned for your safety take the matter to your principal or counselor. Being rude to the teacher will not get the result you desire.

its actually perfectly normal for a band teacher, but yea, if it causes bleeding you should tell, otherwise its fine and he/she is just showing emotion, frustration
