I learned long ago that people only respect you as much as you expect them to. So, if you come off as a pushover, people will take advantage of that. I've experienced disrespect enough to realize that it doesn't feel too good. So, now I expect respect and I get it.

Respect is earned, and can be abused.....I would like to think that their are a few people out there that care enough to pay attention, but it is the ones that are closest to you that will hurt you the most.

I think the people closest to you are inevitable to take you for granted - it's psychological! We all work hard to get someone to like us and once we're sure they like us we stop trying as hard. I think.

The people who are supposed to be close aren't close and don't respect my feelings... and the people who are close don't realize how I feel so can't grasp what they are doing.
