This is more of a philosophical topic. A way to rephrase the question would be "Do you believe that everything is in control? Or do you believe that everything is running on its own?". I take insight on this topic, and it's hard for me to tell what is happening. I often lean towards destiny, as I feel something is in control, keeping things in order, yet fate still comes to question. I don't think anyone can absolutely know if they are gifted or cursed with a certain fate, but that is where we base our own beliefs.

Are you saying that it was "fate" that put this question in politics?

Well, you know, you can actually choose exactly what category you put your question. This might be a perfect counterexample as to defeating your viewpoint on fate!

On the other hand, the way people meet and interact is often determined by fate. Who finds a million dollars in the jackpot? Who walks in the wrong spot at the wrong time? Some things are fate...but others can be thought of as fate, but really are not because the person chose a certain course of action.

Example: getting kicked out of college for cheating is not determined by fate...the person chose to cheat.

I think it's half and half...

I think there is a plan for some people... call it God's plan or fate... really the same difference...

but there is a part that is also hard work and focus...

and combine fate and hard work and you can do anything..

and that "category picker" does a sad, sad job most of the time... no offense to you...

Fate... is so seemingly random, but that's only to our eyes. Fate is complicated, yes, but not impossible, and certainly not random. There is a reason behind everything, no matter how large or small, terrifying or pleasing it may be.

Was it the machination of Fate's trolley that deposited your question here? We all must subscribe to some belief that quantifies (or at least sounds good) the daily divergences of life. Fate is as good as any to hold to.

I believe everything happens for a reason, and I believe God controls everything. So no, I don't believe in fate, I believe in God. Fate is believing you have no control over your destiny, and not knowing who does.
