I've got a Southern heritage, and an Anglo-Saxon ancestry, that pretty much make me "white". I've never identified myself by my "race", since it pretty much describes people from 2 or 3 dozen nations, many of which have warred throughout history. You'll never hear a Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Japanese person with any respect describe themselves as "Asian". Only in America will you find people so out of touch with their roots, the best they can use to identify themselves is the surface color of their skin. Talk about ignorant!

I was most surprised when I found out a dozen years ago that Hispanics in the USA were not consired white. I was born and raised in Europe and we always considered the Spanish people of spain to be white even though some are very brown.

Well, gee, maybe YOU thought "we" - who's that, your family - are the only whites. Did you think black Americans were white, too, or don't they count as "we"? Just who is this "we" you're talking about?

Is there a point?

I really cannot see it.

To me skin is skin and so long as it is clean I am happy.
