I have a friend who's havin car problems. His car is completly dead an whenever he try's to start it, it jus makes a loud noise and the engine is moving like its trying to fire but no power. And everytime he trys too start it, there is oil leaking from his engine rings, an onto his spark plugs. Any idea what the problem could be? and if, so would it be exspensive to repair?

The cylinder head gaskets are leaking and yes it's very expensive to fix and time consuming as well. About a day and a half of labor and it probably could run anywhere from $800 to 900.00 dollars. Good luck.

Gonna be expensive but will depend on what kind of car it is. The "rings" seal the pistons against a cylinder. When the cylinder or the rings are worn excessively, the engine oil will seap by the rings and end up on the spark plugs or get burnt as a mixture of gasoline on the top side of the piston. This is what cause an engine to "burn" oil and cause power loss. Not only is the engine losing oil past the rings but it is losing compression in the cylinder(s)...which will cause noticable power loss. The engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced. You will have to evaluate the cost of repair verses the value of the car. There is not an easy fix here without pulling the engine from the car.

I had this problem once. Chances are that his rings are worn out or that they are in line and are letting all of his oil blow by them and when it has no where else to go it leaks. My suggestion is to get the motor rebuilt. Be sure to do a complete check over the entire motor. Check the rod and main bearings because if he drove it with oil leaking, probably means that his entire bottom end needs to be repaired. This isn't very expensive, unless he has damaged his wrist pin, or scarred his crank. If this is the case, tell him to look for a used motor.

I think you will find you have answered your own question. I would say its has done its rings in, at the compresion has droped hence why you cant start it and the oil on the spark plugs.

Expensive, depends on what you call expensive, but i wouldnt like it to happen to me.

Good luck
