Rat poison is an overdose of an anticoagulant. People take this everyday.. it's a blood thinner for people with strokes and heart conditions! And this is monitored by blood tests periodically.

What it does to kill animals is to make it die of internal bleeding!

So yes, it can kill your horse, depending on the dose it ingested!

Rat poison (warfarin) is designed to basically melt the insides of anything that eats it. What this means is that it destroys the cells and turns all the internal solids to liquid, and creates internal bleeding. I feel it's very inhumane.
Even if only a little was consumed, I would be concerned and call the vet as the risk of internal bleeding is fairly high.
(FYI Warfarin is also what they use in your brain for clots that cause strokes).

Anything will die if it eats enough rat poison. And it doesn't even take that much.

I think rat poison can kill anything if they eat enough of it. Otherwise it would just make them sick.
