Sounds like his rings are blown... He can repair this himself, and it's relatively inexpensive. Or he can take it to a shop where they will charge him an arm and a leg.

Gonna be expensive but will depend on what kind of car it is. The "rings" seal the pistons against a cylinder. When the cylinder or the rings are worn excessively, the engine oil will seap by the rings and end up on the spark plugs or get burnt as a mixture of gasoline on the top side of the piston. This is what cause an engine to "burn" oil and cause power loss. Not only is the engine losing oil past the rings but it is losing compression in the cylinder(s)...which will cause noticable power loss. The engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced. You will have to evaluate the cost of repair verses the value of the car. There is not an easy fix here without pulling the engine from the car.

It's the rings themeselves. They are not forming a good enough seal around the piston wall to keep the oil where it's supposed to be when running. Usually there are three rings on a piston and they all have a specific purpose. You would have to replace the rings which cost about $12 for three and you might as well replace them all because you will have to take the whole thing aprt to get to them and if you don't know how to do that then I suggest to have someone that does because you could get yourself into bigger problems by not knowing what you are doing in a situation like this.

oil in the pistons or the spark plugs is not a good thing
that can mean a blown head gasket ( but then you usually also see water / coolant , unless the block is low ), or really bad valve seals
or bad compression rings, in any case it mean a semi to very expensive repair depending on what you got

you'll just need to replace your oil ring on that piston that is buring the oil onto the spark plug, so your buring oil along with gas and your probably having stuff come out of your exhaust so you should find out which spark plug he or she is ending up with oil on it and have them have that piston checked out cause sounds like one of the oil rings aren't doing their job...

Likely the rings. Do a compression test to verify. And yes, it will be expensive to repair.

I don,t know how you could possibly see his[engine ring,s] because they are inside the engine........if you can see them....you have big problem,s........if your saying there is oil on the spark plug electrode,s when you remove them........still a big problem.......but if there is just oil on the plug shell.....it may be just a bad valve cover gasket......tune it up.............but if there is a lot of oil in the cylinder..........yes.....EXPENSIVE! ....rebuild your engine.
