Is yawning only a sign that you are sleepy or bored?

Yawning is usually a sign that your brain is not getting enough oxygen. When this happens you will feel tired and start to yawn. It is believed that the yawning is an attempt to take in more oxygen.

Ok you yawn from lack of oxygen you tend to breath slower when your board or tired so you have to yawn to catch up but you can also yawn after running or anything that causes you to loose oxygen.

i think mentalyy and physically tired.
Better question is why do people yawn when other people yawn?
or why is yawning contagious

my opinion is its your bodys way of getting extra oxygen when it feels rundown
