i've been with cingular for 2 years now. many times during the time my bills showed that i have to pay for some 'stuff' that i never used or never bought anything from them in first place. Now for the first time last month some douche stole my SS# and added a line to my account bought a $200 cell phone and changed my address. what the hell? there was a case in 2004 SS or credit card numbers were stolen during a break-in to a cingular store. but back customers received letters alerting them of the
possibility of identity or bank theft. why did't i get one? what do you think? have you had any problems with your company? tell me the story.

more than likely the SS# wasn't taken from cingular i know every store has shred bin s that are locked on sight and none of the materials there contain that info anyways. if someone had that info and knew your acct or was able to log in online they could have added a line without ever contacting a cingular employee at all in all likeliness that's what happened if they changed your address because they needed to receive the phone being sent to them ..why would they change it for the bill i bet they don't want that they should take care of it all for you and credit it back though and change your acct passwords and settings. hope that helps.

Tell Cingular you will take legal matters if they do not take care of this because they are a established buisness that holds millions of peoples SS #'s, Credit Card #'s, etc. I reccomend you switch over to T-Mobile, it is alot better than my experience with Cingular. By the way, Cingular has merged to the Att name, but will have the same plans, phones, etc.

it could be that they had ordered the phone online using your user id and password.. or they could of gone to store and knew your ss and had them look up acct that day and add it on.. the only thing though is that if it was done at store they won't bill it to your phone bill.. it had to be done by phone or by internet.. the way you can get it solved is let them know about problem... add a password to your account through customer service. so they cant access by internet or phone without that password.. then you can speak to manager about credit.. if doesn't work you can write to their office of president.. call customer care and they will give you the address.. sorry i can't remember the address right now.. you can also call the fraud department of cingular and handle it that way.. either way it will get resolved by the office of president if fraud dept won't do it... good luck..

It was identity theft, but you will not always be notified if your social was lost with a bank or a store. Someone could have just individually took yours. It is a growing problem and it is good that you paid attendion to it. But, someone now has your social. I could give you some advice to check all of your info if you would like. I have not been a victim of id theft yet, however, I am an associate for a company who helps people with id theft and I am ready for it because everyone probably willl be in one way or another.
