Yes. I was saved by my local library.
Thank you for reminding me that fact.
I may go to my local library tomorrow looking for Paulo Coehlo books to borrow.
Books in Australia are very expensive to buy.

My old town had a local library and a rec center. Now it's infested with crime, and the center's probably been turned into a crack house. But yes...it did. My mother wasn't much of a teacher. She was a dumb (mild retardation), mental (severe psychosis), religious zealot.

I was climbing the ceiling -high bookcases at my folks' house when I was seven months old--our local library was just an annex of the wonders I already knew!

May have. I loved to read as a child. And spent many an afternoon curled up on the couch with a book. Especially with winter snow on the ground.

Actually I grew up in Japan, and all the books at the library were in japanese, so I would watch more movies instead.

Nope...my Mom got me into reading for the sake of reading, and I have been an avid reader ever since. Probably read a thousand books or more.

No..I never enjoyed reading until I became an adult. I never knew I was missing out on being smart. I guess ignorance is bliss.
