It redistributed huge amounts of wealth and cleared about 50 million people out of the world population. As a result of huge amounts of military spending, new inventions and breakthroughs were fostered. Some of these include the huge advancements in aerospace and rocketry that led the world into the jet age and space age. Atomic weapons were perfected, and these led to nuclear weapons, which led to nuclear power plants.
It also allowed for the unparalleled spread of communism throughout Europe and the complete political restructuring of the continent.
The changed that WW2 enabled are so broad and far reaching that it could fill volumes upon volumes of books. Everything from society, fashion, economy, politics, media, science, medicine, weaponry etc were affected.

world war 2 was a different war than the ones before. previous wars ware fought by professional armies on battlesfields.in world war 2 it was a clash of nations, civillians and millitary alike.
Industrialisation also gave new weaponry, more effective at killing than before. this started off with bombers, and jetplanes, tanks, mustard gas etc. finishing with the invention and use of the atomic bomb. These horrific weapons shocked the world.
Where after world war 1, the league of nations was formed (a kind of united nations) It failed miserably because of internal powerstruggles.
After world war 2, and the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima the world was convinced, that 'this kind of devistating war' shou;d NEVER happen again. The united Nations was formed, and this institution is still in place today, Guarding the Peace, and the Rights of all humans.
Hitler was actually named 'person of the 20th century' not because of the things he did. but because what he did, set in motion what would become peace and stability for the world for 50 years to come.
The holocaust convinced the world that guarding the rights of every man was important, a convention at geneva was held because of this.

for one thing it made it clear that WWI was not the war that would end all wars as everyone though, it caused the cold war which in turn started the 'space race' and put a man on the moon and put several bad people in charge of counrties....it advanced warfare tech. and invited nuclear bombs, advanced aircraft and tanks, weapon power and invited new world powers, and helped women become more involved in the work place outside of the home...
those are just a few things that happened

Just on the topic of nazis, the word genocide came from it. And alot of medical advances came from the nazi scientists performing cruel experiments of people.
Also, it began the cold war. (us bombed Japan w/o telling russia and russia got jealous. to be basic.)
