I tried opening the laptop and took it out and plugged it back in. It will simply not recognize it. any suggestions?

go to the dell website and download the drivers for the wireless card. http://support.dell.com

Go to http://support.dell.com and enter the "Express service tag" number for your laptop. Will take you to a download driver page where you can get the software (driver) needed to make the laptop recognize the card. The driver is not included in Windows itself. You have to download it from Dell.

I have had similar issues with my IBM, but the only why I've found to work around is reinstalling the driver for the wireless card. Sometimes a repair would work; but usually installing it and then reinstalling it works. Good luck.

usually you would need the drivers that came with the card, install those and it's fixed..

maybe you need to install the Driver or something?
