Active X is used to make interactive websites. What it actualy is doing is downloading a little program that helps your computer communicate with the website, and at times can be very useful (for example active X is used by websites that scan your hard drive for viruses, which normally websites are not allowed such free access to a computers hardware)

How to disable Active X... It depends on what browser you are using, and Im guessing you did the IE7 update, so... (im shooting from the hip here, i never installed IE7) I think you go to tools, then Internet Options, then click on the security tab, then click on advanced or custom, then you should see a toggle to disable the Internet Explorer from using active X

Other browsers, like firefox, by defalt come with Active X deactivated (because they are not sanctioned by microsoft), and some feel this is a grand security mesure (when really it is an inability to get that technology to work correctly). But if you want an easy fix and dont mind switching browsers, firefox is a good one.

hope that helps, and please feel free to update your question if you need more help

You can't get rid of it. Maybe that website just installed some new programs that require you to download a particular software like Java or macromedia. It's up to you to determine if the software that the website asks you to install is safe or not.

If you thinks it's safe, then just click on the yellow bar below the address and click allow. You just have to do it once and it won't appear again.

The webpage may have an error. You should e-mail the webmaster. Also you should check to see if you have the latest Active X in your computer.

Mine was doing that too.
I finally ignored it......and actually I just noticed that they are not there today.

So....maybe if you ignore them....they just go away???

I'll have to pay attention to see if they come back.
