If personal problems interfered with your work or school, and your boss/suoervisor/professor came to know of this and said that although s/he felt bad for you, you would have to keep up with the work, would you be hurt?

yes and no.
yes coz that's harsh
and no coz they have a point.
im a very emotional person and if my boss told me that id probably melt into a puddle or shame. personal problems, everyone has em, but they really shudnt be getting in ur way. when mine do, i try to stop, pause, wait, breathe, relax, and find a solution before things get waaay out of hand. gud luck.. :)

It all depends what the problem is if it is health than you should have it seen too and get help. If some one died than that is pretty heartless and yes you would feel bad ,But do not let it get you down keep on keeping on that is the only way to get pass such people

No - that's not an unrealistic expectation. I f I can't do the job regardless of my personal problems, then I should be big enough to step down from the position withoout the boss having to confront me about it.

unfortunately, even if we would be hurt they are not there to care about our personal problems. they have to worry about the bottom line for them also. I have learned this the hard way. now if you are having difficulties then maybe you could ask for some time off to cope that away you can go back fresh and relaxed. if you are having problems I hope they get better for you.

No, because you are not suppose to bring your personal problems to work. You leave them at home. As harsh as it sounds the boss is right. They pay you to work not to be your counselor.

It depends on what the personal problem was. I try not to let personal issues I bother me at work. I alos try not to let work problems bother me at home.
