my professor informed me about a mathamatical equation to prove that if you walked into the wall repeatedly you would eventually find yourself on the other side. do you think this is possible? have you heard about this theory?

My professor used this as an example of tunneling. Now you are more than one particle so for you to "walk" through the wall every particle in you body would have to tunnel through it at the same tiime. This is almost so improbable that I would rate it as impossible, but it does get people intersted in the topic that is being taught, does it not? There are all types of things in physics that are strange. The unit "barns" or the "rad" and "rem".

Friends, professor is right by physics not mathematically. In quantum mechanics, though I do not serious believe therein, the "tunnel effect" says that a particle of kinetic energy less than the potential (height) of the barrier - has some probability of escaping across the barrier (based on back waves - or collision at rarer-to-denser boundary in classical physics).

Professor said that repeated attempts might land you "ON THE OTHER SIDE WALL" so not at all THROUGH the wall.

Though the material of wall is part and parcel of the space-time yet we can walk through air but not the wall - because air molecules attract us and wall molecules repel us - of course classically.

well yea depending on what kind of wall it is possible. Such as a wall made of sheetrock eventually it will give in from the pressure and the wall will break allowing you to walk through it. But i a brick wall highly unlikely. But with all this math stuff keep in mind we have been flying helicopters for about 70 years now. Only in the mid 80s were we able to mathmatecally prove that they can fly. Still to this day no math equasion however can prove that the double rotor headed *chinook* can fly. So math may seem to make sense but sometimes it just doesnt prove anything

It is, in theory, possible to walk through a wall. To do so however, every atom of your body and of the wall would have to be in a position where they do not interact with each other - that is not occupy the same space at the same time. That is where the near physical impossibility enters the problem.

Quantum physics huh?
that's great in theory, but what are the odds? 1 in a googleplex(1 with 1 million zero's after it)?
In reality, odds like that(and most of the claims made by quantum mechanics) are called statistically absurd, meaning it will not happen with so many more possible outcomes, so you can stop getting a headache on the wall now!

Eventually, all the freaky little quantum effects will all happen at the right time and you will have tunnelled through. The likelihood of this happening will involve repeated experiments for a period greater than many, many times the time the Universe has existed so you should get started as soon as possible.

Enjoy!!

According to physics and mathematics, what we percieve as solid objects are made up of tiny, practically empty molecules vibrating so quickly they appear to be solid...but on a molecular level, quite the opposite is true. I dont know if walking into a wall repeatedly would satisfy a mathematical equation, but if you delve deep into the world of quantum physics, much more is possible than we know.

ur professor sounds like a nut... um ive never heard of this, but im pretty sure its not true. if u run into a wall repeatedly all u will get is a big headache. (unless u run into it so many times that u r knocked out, then u might get moved to the other room by somebody lol)... but im pretty sure this has nothing to do w/ math. just common sense.

It is possible to have flying pigs and for humans to beat gorillas arm wrestling.
Now let me remind you that in the real world it is not real. It does not happen.

by running into a wall several times you will weaken its structure and eventually you'll break through or get tired enough that you walk around it
