Usually only once or twice... A lot depends on the district attorney and how willing he is to work with you. A lawyer can probably get it rescheduled more than you can because the DA will understand he has other professional responsibilities and not every court date will work for him, but you won't have that same latitude if you're dealing with him yourself.. You really need to show up for your court dates or he will be extra harsh on you.

One! You better have a damn good reason for missing more than that (i.e. sick to the point where you have already seen a doctor or serious illness of a close family member).
