England defeated the Dutch on the Atlantic coast. That's when New Amsterdam became New York. Spain conquered the Incas, specifically Spanish General Francisco Pizarro.

The Dutch lost their colony, New Amsterdam, to the English. Basically they were squeezed out by superior numbers.
