These are all escapes from the real world. We need them. Sports would be another example.

I think the real question is why have people forgotten what the USA is fighting for?

But one thing is for sure when it comes to Anna Nicole Smith's death, there is a little baby girl in the center of this incredible storm and I think everyone is watching to see how this plays out and what the outcome will be.

Also the circumstances and events surrounding this baby girl is unbelievable, you couldn't come up with this kind of story line.

I don't believe there is anyone who can say they don't care for the well being of this little girl and what happens to her.

As for American Idol, well I think it is a crap program once the hilarious "auditions" are over and done with. Personally, they can stop at Hilarious American Auditions and be done with it.

Not trying to be sarcastic, but what are we suppose to do.Sit here and dwell on this God awful war.Yeah we know it's going on and HATE every minute of it.I know there are people in this country with kids, husbands, fathers over there and I know it is always on their minds. We all think about it.There are constant reminders around us.But there are other things going on that we enjoy(American Idol) or that leaves us dumbfounded(Anna Nicole) and if it's only for a moment we have to get away from things. we have to enjoy something sometimes.Even our troops have their moments , I'm sure, Where they share a joke and have good thoughts and they share this with the people arouind them.We can't all sit in gloom all the time.Life is too short and the things we enjoy is what keeps us going.God bless our troops and I'm sorry if anyone took any of this the wrong way.......

Yeah, It seems to be getting a lot worse. Some of the stuff that pushes aside the important news is not even fit for supermarket tabloids. Many people are having problems in their personal lives too.Maybe everyone has gone a little crazy.
Next we will see some "normal" person being chased around on live T.V.- for our entertainment -like Brave New World.

People are getting burned out about the war.
Plus, studies have discovered that people will react compassionately over one person in misery, less over two, and so on and so on. The public is calloused over the stupendous numbers, it's easier to focus on and relate to one person at a time.
American Idol is like alcohol/drugs . . . an escape from the real issues.

People are tired of hearing about the war for the most part I think. It's all bad news. Of course, I guess Anna Nicole's death isn't exactly good news, but it's still considered "entertainment." Americans are celebrity obsessed.

I asked a similar question on here, because it makes me sick what kind of things Americans favor priority to. Yet people think I'm supposed to be so patriotic.

I think it has to do with what gets the ratings on television and that's all it has to do with, even if it's "news". It also has to do with the requirement to adjust their reporting to satisfy their sponsors.

What you get on commercial television news that is sponsored by big corporate entities is very BIASED news.

www.linktv.org has some wildly interesting presentations. I highly recommend it, as it is viewer supported, not corporate America sponsored.

Media doesn't want us to think or have honest debate.
It is easier to pit people against each other with the more mindless stuff they can fill us up on.

For if we did have an honest debate and we really start thinking people will find out we have much more in common than differences.

So we get fed this junk than what is really important in our lives.
That being our families and those we worship with and work with.

Because it's what Americans want to read about. If you want to read real news at least one day before it makes it to our shores check out the BBC website.
